Some of my concerns have materialized into real issues... sooner than I thought. The attrition storm has hit the elearning providers in India yet again. Biggies moving out to other organizations for "better career prospects" has left every elearning professional in doubt about their future with the company. Here are some of the most recent ones:
1. Sify - DGM (Delivery), Senior PM (Tech), Director (Business Development)
2. Gecis/Genpact - Operations Leader, Business Leader, both Product Leaders (one moved to a different role, one moved out of the organization)
3. Aptara/Teckbooks - Operations Leader
With service providers claiming as much as 300% growth in revenues, why is the top brass looking at other "better" career opportunities?

Hi,
The question the e-learning company must ask themselvess - what have they learnt from the IT industry?
Let them take a leaf out of companies like infosys - its not just salary - but long term binding concepts like stock options must be considered - e-learning companies must also creat wealth - not for shareholders alone but for all stakeholders!

That seems logical, but most of the small players are fighting battles to remain in the market and survive. Long term is nowhere close to them at this time. One radical solution can be to form a conglomerate of all specialized elearning companies and do busines together by leveraging each others' strength!
Companies will serve to a broader customer base - both geography and product wise - and get a talented pool of resources. For IDs, we will come back to your company, that is Tenable :-)
You are partly right.
However, I am leading by example. Though a start up - I am already sharing my resources with my team.
I want to create wealth - not make wealth for myself.
And yes - Tenable will take the world market by storm! We will very soon attract the best talent.
Your strategy of some e-learning companies forming congolmerates is what is close to even my heart!
And yes - we are on the verge of forming many other alliances.
Tenable will be one day one of the largest skill proviers to the whole world - and not just IDs - we will produce a whole galaxy of skilled people!:)
cheers!
hi,
one more thing - regarding forming conglomerates - many small companies are so narrow minded that they fear forming partnerships with other small companies - in the last one year - I have spent a fortune in meeting many CEOs of smaller - well positioned e-learning companies - who operate in niches.
You may not believe that many do not have even a single ID.
One prominent company in Hyderabad - is bagging projects from UK but has not team to execute - and does not want to share this with other companies who have good team and talent. In fact it has two unfinished courses of a IT major for lack of resources!
Another niche player in Bangalore is an expert in 3D & 4D learning solutions - but does not have a good business development team!
Small and mid companies must wake up from their slumber - and form strategic alliances - or else---- there is something on the wall for them!
But I am optimistic:-)
cheers!
